I had a short story critiqued by a writing group lately and was astonished at how many interpretations of what I was saying they all came up with. If that had been a book, I might have been tempted to update my query letter, some of them were so good!

Hmmm. I came across a novelist recently who didn’t work out what her story was about until she’d written several drafts of her query letter.
