Tonight I appear to be procrastinating by doing stomach crunches and push-ups while listening to Black Sabbath.
Yeah, I’d also like to know who I am and what I’ve done with me…
Anyone got any less energetic procrastinating tools they can recommend?

Here are a few of my favourites:
1. Researching – I’ve done about as much research as writing on my latest book.
2. Reading – In the heat of writing a novel, reading always makes me feel guilty.
3. Writing short stories – I put it down to ‘marketing’ but really it’s just escapism.
4. Anything to do with blogs – reading, writing, commenting, revamping, tweaking.

Good list!
Joanne, you are all alone here, I’m afraid. Don’t know anyone else who procrastinates. The rest of us are perfect.
Thus – an insight into my own preferred technique for putting things off (can’t bring myself to use the ‘p’ word)
I’m delusional. Try it. (But don’t be jealous because the voices talk only to meeee!)

that is actually one of the most innovative procrastination techniques i’ve heard of jo! my own personal favourite is ‘keeping my i.t. skills up to date by looking at the intynet’. really works, let me tell you.
the other one i do is ‘reading through someone else’s work and giving them feedback on it’. helps if you’ve got some writing buddies for that one.

Hehehe delusional! I like that 🙂 And I know you’re perfect, I can vouch for that.

I have a whole novel I’m reading for a friend and giving her feedback on. She’s very helpful in giving me good quality procrastinating tools!
Which makes me think I should probably be reading through slush if I want something to distract me…
