So, apparently David Eddings has passed away.
This makes me so sad. When I was much (much) younger, had just devoured Tolkien and wanted more, I picked up The Diamond Throne from a shelf in the local library, and became an addict.

I came to Eddings too late. I was already an adult and had gotten rather jaded in my reading tastes. The shepherd-boy-saving-the-world-with-a-lovable-band-of-friends theme didn’t work for me. That said, I know he was an important influence on many people (including D., when he was a teenager) and I’m sorry to hear of his passing.
